Introducing: Watermark Wiz

We built a free online tool for batch watermarking photos called Watermark Wiz.

How Watermark Wiz came to be

As a startup, we get feature requests all the time. And while you want to make all your users happy, there are just not enough hours in the day, and not enough developers with oversized screens to build everything.

To build a new feature, we need to talk to multiple users, get a deep understanding of the different use-cases, think how it integrates into the product, design, develop, test, and make sure it’s working at the highest quality. With so many ideas and requests, you have to prioritize, and not all features make the cut.

Watermarking was at exactly that point: multiple customers requested it, mostly photographers and event coordinators, but it was never at the top of the list. 

That said, we love finding solutions to customers’ problems, so we suggested that users watermark their photos before uploading them to Tagbox. Sounds simple enough, but we couldn’t really find any free tools to do that. All the “free” tools out there added their own logo to the photos, or made you watermark them one by one unless you upgrade, which is of course a deal-breaker when you’re watermarking 500 photos.

That’s why we decided to build Watermark Wiz - a truly free, unlimited watermark maker. By building it as a standalone product, we managed to shorten the build time by 10x, allowing us to at least have some solution to offer users who need it.
